SP #2
In this section of my reading, i read a story about a boy who was intelligent but not emotionally smart. The story was inserted into the main book, and showed the different aspects of his life and the way he acted. In many instances, the boy acted inappropriately towards other people. He couldn't read peoples emotions on their faces or through their words. Instead, he over analyzed many situations he was in, such as giving friends advice. Instead of telling them something to make them feel better (not necessarily being the right thing to do), he told then a harsh truth that only made them feel worse. This section was very interesting because of the direct examples and descriptions of how emotional intelligence is crucial. This interaction was important because it shows how some people do not focus enough on how to interact with other humans. People need to be able to have friends and be there for their friends, but if they don’t know how to properly empathize then friendship is essentially useless. With out the knowledge on how to show your emotions and relate to others, a person will not be able to get through life. People with out social intelligence will not get anywhere in life regarding jobs. Professional jobs require intelligence on how to interact with your clients and this boy will not be able to be successful with out knowing how to properly empathize and relate to others.

Any sense of why this boy lacked the knowledge you describe? For me, that's the key question: why do some have it and other do not?
