definitional essay 2

Through out history, there are many examples of corrupt leaders taking advantage of their power and the public. In 1933, Hitler’s regime came to power, making it their goal to exterminate the Jews of Germany and soon expand to the rest of Europe. Through out this genocide, many resistance groups attempted to assassinate Hitler. This time period was one of the few instances where assassination was justified based off of the situation at hand. In order for an assassination to be justified, it must increase the population’s freedom, happiness, and safety.
One of the most important rights to any human being is freedom, the ability to choose what one wants to do, when to do it, and how they do it (of course with in reason). When a government or leader takes away this right, the people have a responsibility to get their freedom back no matter what the actions must be. According to The Universal Declaration of Human Rights,
Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in which human beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common people.

This document states that it is with in the basic human rights to be free in their own country. When a leader takes away this right from the people, they must get it back. In many cases, the population tried non-violent rebellions and revolts, but they are to no avail. Over time, once can see that there have been many relentless corrupt leaders, and the only way to bring back freedom is through assassination.
Another crucial aspect to any human life is happiness. In order for a person to function, it is necessary to be happy, and get enjoyment from any number of either activities or routines. When happiness is taken away from a life, automatically there is the feeling of day-to-day dread which no person should live with. In a published blog article called “What Makes a good Government”, it states:
[The government] should ensure that the law does not hinder anyone in their pursuit of said happiness

It is the job of a leader to make sure that the life of the population is as peasant and safe as possible. When the government does not fulfill this duty, the people have the right to act on it, and talk matters into their own hands.
Lastly, it is the job of the government and leader make sure that the population is safe and stable. When the people are not safe, there is a sense of constant fear with in the population. With this fear comes economic depreciation, and unhappiness in the public. According to the definition of a government found in the Webster Dictionary:
A government that works to protect its citizens by promoting safer and healthier workplaces, a living wage, and accountability.

In order to have a good, successful government, there must be security and safety for the people. With out this, the population has the right to do what ever they need to do in order to survive and stay safe, even if the threat is from a leader.
When Hitler was in power, at least half of the population of Germany and Eastern Europe were not free and lived under immense oppression. People did not have the right to vote, along with many other basic privileges. The Nazi regime abolished the rights of the Jews and other minorities, treating them like animals. In an article called “History of the Holocaust” in the Jewish Virtual library, it says:
The government, under the pretense of controlling the Communists, abolished individual rights and protections: freedom of the press, assembly, and expression were nullified, as well as the right to privacy. When the elections were held on March 5, the Nazis received nearly 44 percent of the vote, and with 8 percent offered by the Conservatives, won a majority in the government.

People were no longer allowed to wear certain clothes, walk around at specific hours of the day, and even buy specific brands of clothes. All freedoms were ripped away from much of the population, proving that Hitler and the Nazi’s were horrible leaders. Any leader and government that take away freedom and rights from the people do not deserve to have power. The only way that it would end was by possible assassination of Hitler.
When Hitler came to power, all happiness was lost with in the population, and replaced with sadness and dread. People no longer looked forward to many, once thought to be joyful, aspects of life. Instead, in an article analyzing the emotional and psychological impact of the holocaust on survivors and children, happiness was replaced with:
Isolation, denial, horror, guilt, sadness, anger at the world.
Every possible negative emotion can and is directly related to those of the people who lived in the holocaust and Hitler’s regime. This shows that the Nazi rule was detrimental to the people, and therefore only worsened the government leading to the peoples need for a better world. A good leader and government do not take away the happiness of the people, and this only lead to the need for the end of the regime and Hitler’s assassination.
Lastly, when Hitler came to power, millions of innocent civilians were killed because of their religion, beliefs, and even natural personality traits. All safety was taken away from the people, and if anyone tried to go against his new rules, they would be killed. In an analysis of the Holocaust written up by Wikipedia, it says:
the total number of civilians murdered by the Nazis is between 10 million and 11 million (around 5.7 million Jews[9] and an equal number of non-Jews)

Hitler’s regime did the opposite of what a good government is supposed to do by killing millions of the innocent population.

250 words after more research

Having read more articles, i have come up with another idea for my essay. Seeing that i am extremely interested in hiking, i am going to either write about the shoes, or the trails. I am trying to find a way to connect the two but i am not sure how. One of the things that came up in my research was proper footwear for the different forms of hiking. I was thinking that i could write my definitional essay on when to wear which kind of shoes. I know the subject seems uninteresting, but in my opinion, i think that finding the write materials and having proper equipment is crucial.
With in this possible essay choice, I can talk about different trails, but also the equipment. Each paragraph could talk about the different weather, and will match up with the form of equipment needed. This idea is good because there is plenty to write on. According to my research, there are hundreds of sites dedicated to just the idea of hiking boots. Along with equiptment, I can write about the numourous trails to hike on in different parts of the country. Also, there are many different brands for shoes that I could use that as one of my supporting paragraphs. A possible idea could be to write about the different brnds, and which is the best choice and why.

hiking in 250 words

For this essay, I am writing about how light weight shoes are the best idea for a person going on a hiking trip. I will be arguing that light weight is the most important aspect of hiking footwear because  “the effort it takes to carry a pound of gear on your feet is approximately five times the effort to carry the same pound on your back” (hiking website.com). Lightweight shoes are the most practical and will keep you comfortable through a long day of hiking.
Picking the right pair of shoes is the most important because after a day of walking on a trail, you will be feeling the ache the most in your feet. Depending on the weather, lightweight, low, leather boots will be the most comfortable because of the amount of support. Having support in the soles of your shoes will keep from the rest of your body aching. Boots will help stabilize your ankles, which will help avoid the situation of a twisted ankle.
Wearing boots will keep your feet warm in the winter, dry on muddy terrains, and stable in rocky areas. Whenever a person is hiking, it is important to keep your feet comfortable because that affects how long you can hike and how hard of a trail you can hike. Wearing boots, you will always be prepared for any condition, giving a hiker the most pleasurable experience possible. Overall, boots will be the smartest and safest choice of footwear when going hiking on any trail, mountain, and terrain.
