Having read more articles, i have come up with another idea for my essay. Seeing that i am extremely interested in hiking, i am going to either write about the shoes, or the trails. I am trying to find a way to connect the two but i am not sure how. One of the things that came up in my research was proper footwear for the different forms of hiking. I was thinking that i could write my definitional essay on when to wear which kind of shoes. I know the subject seems uninteresting, but in my opinion, i think that finding the write materials and having proper equipment is crucial.
With in this possible essay choice, I can talk about different trails, but also the equipment. Each paragraph could talk about the different weather, and will match up with the form of equipment needed. This idea is good because there is plenty to write on. According to my research, there are hundreds of sites dedicated to just the idea of hiking boots. Along with equiptment, I can write about the numourous trails to hike on in different parts of the country. Also, there are many different brands for shoes that I could use that as one of my supporting paragraphs. A possible idea could be to write about the different brnds, and which is the best choice and why.
Sounds like you have a good base idea, in terms of brands i think it may be very hard to compare because different brands have their strengths and weaknesses and a lot of the time it has to do with the person buying the brand and their comfort level
ReplyDeleteI think it's actually a pretty interesting topic, I also love hiking. Either way I think you'll have to avoid a lot of bad information and advertising from various shoe companies - you should try to check and make sure your sources are unbiased. Also, I think it could be that the best official shoes for hiking are some custom made brand that costs thousands of dollars. Perhaps to make the paper more relevant you should introduce a price cap? I think you have a lot of potential in this paper!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Adrian's suggestions. A price cap may be a very good idea, and also you could focus on a type of trail and which boots are best for beginners or advanced hikers. This is an interesting topic because it's not something one would think about...I always hike in my oldest sneakers.
